Heated Rivalry (Game Changers, #2)
My Review
Like the TV show adaptation, Heated Rivalry starts as a romance and gradually transforms into something deeper and more meaningful. Rachel Reid has crafted a story that balances the heat with genuine emotional weight.
Two things make this book stand out:
First, the world Reid creates is refreshingly pleasant. Things work out the way you hope they will, and the story leaves you with a genuine sense of happinessānot because itās unrealistic, but because it allows its characters the joy they deserve.
Second, the coming out arc feels authentic. The intense fear that comes from living hidden, the constant worry about what happens when the truth comes out, and then that pivotal moment when somethingāor someoneāmakes it worth the risk. When you realize you deserve to live openly, to be in love, to have what everyone else takes for granted in relationships. For many gay readers, including myself, this will resonate deeply.
Reidās ability to marry romance with emotional depth is remarkable. Shane and Iliaās relationship never sacrifices one for the otherāthe passion and the vulnerability coexist beautifully.
I read this after watching the TV show and Iām absolutely continuing with the series. Highly recommended.
